A55 Rant
31/01/09 08:48
Over the last few years it's seems there's been a string of hold ups on the A55 - no sooner than they finish one set of road works, then they are at it again... Recent hold ups at Llanfairfechan caused by the building of a cycle bridge seemed to take ages, and to cap it all the bridge has turned out to be one of the ugliest around (a missed opportunity). Now they are starting work at junction 27, St Asaph which will involve 2 phases of work stretching to May 2010! With these road works there's no predicting if there'll be a hold up and there's not many alternative routes (tried one at Christmas to avoid the Llanfairfechan jams and nearly ended up in a farmers field!). The knock on effects for industry and tourism in the area must be enormous.
For us, well we'll probably resort to travelling over early Saturdays rather than attempting the busy Friday evenings... or maybe we should lobby for a regular flight from Manchester to Anglesey International..... or anyone with a helicopter??
